PS3 Shadow Wireless Controller with Rumble

PS3 Shadow Wireless Controller with Rumble

- This controller feels great in my hands. I like how the left analog stick and the d-pad locations are swapped. Biggest selling point for me as I prefer it for most of the games I play. I've got nothing against the Dualshock 3(great for SF4).

- The quality of this controller is top notch. The rubber exterior feels good.

- The sticks and buttons feel great. The sticks have a good resistance to them. Not too loose and not too hard.

- Built in rechargeable battery is very nice. Recharges like the DS3. Battery lasts for dozens of hours(haven't timed it yet).

- Good wireless connectivity. Can sit up to about 25-30 ft away.

The Not-so-good:

- The "enhanced" triggers on this controllers aren't really enhanced. Sure they curve out instead in curving in but the travel distance is half of the DS3. On some games, you have to press them all the way down to register the press.

- There is no Sixaxis controls so you'll have to switch controllers for games that utilize Sixaxis controls.

- I wish it was Bluetooth. Can't start up the PS3 by pressing the "Home" button.

- Clicking down on the sticks is louder than most controllers(Just me being nitpicky).

- The USB receiver is a bit too big for my liking. Again, me nitpicking.

- D-pad isn't that great. Not as good as the DS3 but better than the 360 d-pad.

- I wish the tops of the analog stick were concave(360) instead of convex(DS3).

Overall, a great alternative for those who prefer the 360 layout to the DS3. Highly recommended.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Hideo Kojima has done it again. MGS4 is the most detailed, convincing, and well-researched game I have ever played. It offers a compelling and imaginative glimpse into the future of high-tech warfare, a nuanced, intelligent storyline, vastly improved gameplay, and incredible graphics.

The metal gear franchise has always pushed the boundaries of what a game could be, and challenged the preconceptions of the audience. MGS4 starts out with, of all things, a short live action film about marine fauna. The in-game store discounts weapons (in real time) on wednesdays and sundays. These are just a few examples, but there are many more. The story has both the philosophical and political musings as well as the bizarre humor and one of a kind characters that fans expect.

The gameplay is more open and the action is more intense than in prior games. The environments seem much bigger and are bustling with npcs engaged in building to building warfare. Snake can join either side in the conflict or ignore them and sneak by. He has a ton of new weapons and gadgets as well.

The graphics are among the most impressive I have seen in a game. The characters are solid physical presences with subtle, lifelike facial expressions. The mechs move with an animal grace and hunt with a keen intelligence that belies their artificial construction.

Overall, the game is an experience that should not be missed by anyone with a PS3. If you don't already own a PS3, this game alone would justify its purchase. It is by far the most creative, original, and technically polished game to appear on the system to date.

PS3 Blu Wave Remote

I did not have either of the problems the other reviewers described (lag & having to point the remote directly at the receiver.) Its always worked exactly as I would expect a remote to.

This remote works great as an inexpensive, basic PS3 remote. Highly recommended, especially with how low the price is.

Logitech Harmony Adapter for Playstation 3

Logitech Harmony Adapter for Playstation 3

I have a Logitech Harmony 1000 remote, and I run a Pioneer Elite receiver, a Toshiba HDDVD (ok - not smart), an XBox360, a wireless headset controller, a Pioneer Elite upscaling DVD player, two computers with Zalman IR controls, and a Playstation 3. I could control everything with my Harmony 1000 except the Playstation 3. I tried the Nyko Blu-Wave product, and while I've been extremely happy with most Nyko products, I had tons of problems with it. From not being able to power up/power down, commands executing twice, etc., there were just too many issues to make it worthwhile. Considering that Sony's bluetooth remote was so nice, it made sense to go to 2 remotes.

Well now I'm finally down to one without a sacrifice. This unit has it's own AC power, so it works whether the PS3 is off or on, which is a huge advantage.

The other huge advantage over every other solution is that it contains every single command that the bluetooth remote has (I believe it is 51 in all).

Pros:

-Self-powered via AC adapter

-Works regardless of PS3 being on or off

-Contains all 51 commands, including the PS button

-Doesn't take up a valuable USB port on the PS3

-Commands work in PS2 emulator of original 60gb PS3

-Range via Harmony 1000 is excellent

-No problems with double-commands like Nyko product

-Design matches Playstation 3

-Logitech had all the commands and screens for all of the supported remotes on their website on launch day (nicely done Logitech!!)

Cons:

-Price is a little high (it's 3 times the cost of the Sony bluetooth remote)

-For that money, I would like to have had the option of a rechargeable battery so that an AC adapter wouldn't be needed.

-Unit is small, but it seems like it could be smaller.

-It is still infrared from remote to receiver, so you have to aim it versus bluetooth which is omnidirectional.

Summary: If you want to get down to one remote, this is THE way to do it. If you want to save money, go with the omnidirectional Sony bluetooth remote (don't go third part on that).

It's cool to receive your own turbo controller. Personally I never use the six axis function included; nevertheless it seems well built but on the other hand, the button symbols (X,O...) just washed away during the first week of usage. Now I have black buttons all over the control. Also the keypad tends to get stuck when I press it down, that's a problem because I need to quickly turn off/on it to get it back on track, of course if you're playing COD or Resistance, tell me how valuable are those seconds... they just kill you like 5 five times while waiting...hehehe.

The usb device works fine, not that many troubles as I expected.

I purchased this during the Todays deal Price.

What a DEAL!!!

I am very impressed with this set.

The box is huge and contains a Tekken six Hard cover Art Book! Seriously impressive!

The control pad is larger than I thought. It also comes with a receiver to plug in your Ps3 to make it wireless, NICE!

The control pad takes 2 double A batteries not included....

The box this comes in is also impressive. and well packed! I can't however say much good for Amazons packing.

Amazon packaging is never adequate. There is always just one small strip of sealed air fill in the box and only on one side. I think Amazon needs to seriously protect larger more expensive, heavy items with bubble wrap. The Box the merchandise came in was damaged from UPS's tossing. I'm sure if this item would have had even paper packaging to support the sides top and bottom this could have been avoided. I will not order expensive items from Amazon if the shipping department will not do the job they need to do. This seems to occur on all packages. Very disappointing.
